This is a penthouse apartment in Madrid, located in a residential building, with a total area of 125 m². The penthouse, recently purchased by our clients—a couple with an 8-year-old daughter—did not meet their needs or lifestyle, so they commissioned us for a comprehensive interior design and renovation project to transform it into their new family home.
Throughout the home, we selected continuous oak wood flooring, which brings warmth and visual cohesion, except in the kitchen, where we decided to retain the existing porcelain tile floor.
The day area, which integrates the entry hall, living room, dining room, and kitchen, was conceived as a open, fluid space, designed to encourage family life and everyday communication.
The kitchen with a central island combines white and oak cabinetry, brass taps, and a generous island with stools and pendant lights, making it the social hub of the home.
Although the family wanted a visual connection between the kitchen and living room, they also needed the option to close off the space when necessary. For this reason, we designed a glass partition with a sliding door, which acts as a divider between the kitchen and the living-dining area, while maintaining aesthetic continuity whether open or closed.
The curved design of the glass partition extends into the entry hall, where we designed a curved console and a bespoke wardrobe, creating an elegant transition between spaces.
In the living room, we designed a bespoke TV unit with shelving, with simple, understated lines. We also incorporated a console behind the sofa, which serves as a divider between the living and dining areas.
The dining room is arranged around a natural oak table, paired with pendant lights designed by the studio, creating a welcoming social space for family gatherings. The colour palette of these rooms combines neutral tones with ochre and blue accents, bringing balance and personality.
Next to the entry hall is the guest cloakroom, where we clad the walls with wainscoting-style ceramic tiles combined with botanical-pattern wallpaper. We designed a bespoke oak vanity unit, paired with a natural stone basin and black taps, creating a small space with great character.
The child’s bedroom includes a sleeping area, storage, and a study zone. We made use of the trundle bed with drawers and the existing desk, complementing them with bespoke shelving, a wall light, and cheerful wallpaper.
The guest bedroom stands out for its textile-effect wallpaper, which adds warmth and texture to the space. The ochre and dusty pink colour palette is complemented by black wall lights, which add contrast and character.
In the main bedroom, neutral tones predominate, while deep blue textiles provide the touch of colour. The subtly designed wallpaper enhances the serene atmosphere of the space. The upholstered headboard is paired with generous oak bedside tables with ample storage, and above them we placed pendant lights that bring warmth and visual balance.
This bedroom also features a separate rectangular walk-in wardrobe, which allows storage to be organised efficiently.
The main bathroom was designed with a neutral, light-filled base. It includes a bespoke lacquered vanity unit, a decorated porcelain bowl basin, a large-format mirror, and wall-mounted brass taps. The basin lighting is resolved with decorative wall lights, which add character to the overall design.
As in all our projects, we designed carefully considered lighting, intended to create warm, comfortable settings, generating a sense of wellbeing and a home you truly want to be in.
