This is a 280 m2 residence that was originally in its initial state, featuring a very dated appearance that did not meet the needs of its new owners.
For the kitchen, we chose an off-white combined with natural oak. We installed a large island with a low table extension. At the express request of the clients, the work area (cooking and sink) was located off the island.
Moving into the sleeping area, we find the children’s bedroom. The furniture was custom-designed by the studio. We opted for white with touches of natural oak on the desk and the bookshelf units. The walls by the bed were finished with a custom wood wainscot and wallpaper.
The clients, a family consisting of a couple and their young daughter who had recently purchased the property, wanted to transform it into a modern, comfortable, cozy, bright, and inviting home. Additionally, they required a new layout, as the original one did not suit their needs, and wanted to integrate the pillar located in the kitchen.
After analyzing the spaces and the clients’ wishes, we created a new layout for the house to accommodate an entrance hall, living-dining room, open-plan kitchen, laundry room, office, gym, girl’s bedroom, guest bedroom, and master bedroom, along with three bathrooms and a powder room.
We achieved a better distribution by eliminating the long, dark hallway and changing the location of the kitchen. Furthermore, this change provided brighter rooms.
Throughout the house, we installed natural oak wood flooring with wide planks, except in the wet areas, where we used ceramic tiles.
We opted for different wall coverings in certain rooms, such as wallpaper, decorative panels, and oak wood, as well as clay paint. In the bathrooms, we selected ceramic tiles with textile and stone effects.
The floor-to-ceiling interior doors were finished in white lacquer.
Oak is present throughout much of the house, alongside white lacquer in the children’s bedroom and black-stained oak in the office.
We designed the daytime areas (entrance hall, living room, dining room, and kitchen) as an open concept, separated by glass partitions with oak wood moldings. Serving as a central axis, we created an English courtyard featuring a preserved eucalyptus shrub, which helped us articulate these rooms.
Leaving the entrance hall behind and walking down the corridor, presided over by a metal sculpture, we enter the semi-public area of the home.
First, there is the laundry room, next to the kitchen. Opposite the laundry, we created a powder room. Next, we placed the office. Its masculine feel was achieved through custom black-stained oak cabinetry and selected furniture.
In the guest bedroom, we placed two twin beds with upholstered headboards and wallpaper. The bed textiles are the perfect complement to provide the final touch of color.
The most secluded and intimate area of the house is reserved for the master bedroom, featuring an open bathroom and a walk-in closet.
In the master bedroom, we highlighted the headboard wall by covering it with wallpaper and decorative panels. The nightstands and pendant lamps complete the styling.
The bathroom open to the bedroom combines three coverings: one of oak wood forming rounded slats, another with a natural stone effect, and a mirror finish in the vanity area. The vanity unit, also designed by the studio, features two stone sinks.
The wood paneling in the bathroom conceals a sliding door that provides access to a walk-in closet where no detail has been overlooked.
