In this 60 m² new-build apartment, one of the project’s greatest challenges was redesigning the kitchen layout, which in its original state met neither the functional needs nor the lifestyle of its owner: a woman with a passion for cooking and baking who sought a bright, serene, and welcoming home. The goal was to create a functional, comfortable space with a subtle yet characterful aesthetic, designed for relaxation and enjoying leisure time.
The kitchen, initially dark and impractical, presented several drawbacks, including the swinging access door, which interfered with circulation and space utilization. The solution involved partially opening the kitchen to the living-dining area through a custom-designed glass partition with oak wood moldings. This intervention allowed for increased natural light and established a visual connection with the living-dining room and the terrace, while maintaining acoustic independence and odor control.
Additionally, we replaced the swinging door with a sliding door, which allowed us to optimize space and improve functionality. The result was a brighter, more open, and comfortable kitchen with smoother circulation.
In the living-dining room, the main intervention was the design of a bespoke bookshelf framed by decorative arches, finished with wallpaper, which acts as the focal point of the space. The design of the arches dialogues with the lines of the kitchen’s glass partition, creating visual continuity and coherence in the interior design.
This custom bookshelf not only organizes the space but also adds character and uniqueness, contrasting with the overall serenity of the project. The living room’s color palette combines washed greens and soft mustards in the textiles, creating an elegant and balanced contrast that adds personality without overwhelming the atmosphere.
The owner also wished for a small outdoor corner on the terrace where she could enjoy a quiet breakfast on weekends. Given the limited space, we designed a simple composition with plants, a round table, and a bistro-style chair, creating an intimate and pleasant ambiance.
The master bedroom combines dusty pink and ochre tones through delicately patterned wallpaper and coordinated textiles, creating a warm and relaxing environment. The neutral-toned upholstered headboard is accompanied by oak wood bedside tables with ample storage capacity. Above them, we placed table lamps with textile shades, which add warmth and atmosphere to the room.
The bathroom, though functional in its original state, lacked sufficient storage space. We designed a new custom vanity unit in oak wood, complemented by a matching side cabinet. We also replaced the washbasin and faucets and redesigned the bathroom lighting, improving both the functionality and the aesthetics of the space.
The second bedroom was conceived as a multifunctional room, equipped with a sofa bed for guests and a desk for reading or occasional work. A flexible and adaptable space, designed to meet the changing needs of daily life.
The project was developed with a palette of soft colors—grayish greens, dusty pinks, and ochres—combined with natural materials such as oak wood, linen, and cotton, reinforcing the sense of calm and balance throughout the home. Each room was designed with its own identity, while always maintaining the aesthetic coherence of the whole.
The result is a bright, cozy, and deeply personal home, where every space reflects the tastes, habits, and lifestyle of its owner. A serene and functional home, designed to be enjoyed at a slow pace.
