There are homes that, despite being completely new, still need to find their own identity. This 80 m² apartment began with a functional, well-planned base, but, as is often the case in many new-build developments, its spaces were neutral, impersonal and designed to suit any lifestyle. The aim of this project was precisely that: to transform a characterless property into a home capable of reflecting the owners’ personalities and supporting the way they live.
From the outset, we set out to create a serene, warm and light-filled atmosphere. The home was designed around a soft colour palette, in which grey-green, dusty pink and ochre tones sit harmoniously alongside natural materials such as oak, linen and cotton. The result is a nuanced interior where a sense of calm runs through every room and all the spaces connect naturally.
One of the most significant changes was replacing the original flooring with herringbone laminate flooring, a decision that creates visual continuity and gives the entire home a greater sense of warmth and elegance. Against this shared backdrop, each room develops its own personality without losing the coherence of the whole.
The entrance hall, although compact, was maximised through a completely bespoke design. A unit with an integrated bench and a set of cupboards keep the entrance organised, providing space for coats, bags, umbrellas and all the items used in everyday life.
The living area was conceived as the true heart of the home. The living room, dining area and kitchen share an open-plan space where natural light and warm materials create a welcoming atmosphere designed for spending time together. Every decision, from the layout to the choice of furniture, lighting and textiles, was made to achieve a balance between functionality and aesthetics. The neutral tones, enriched with touches of muted ochre, add depth without sacrificing lightness, creating a composition that is elegant, relaxed and timeless.
The terrace extends that same sense of wellbeing outdoors. It was organised into two distinct areas: a dining area for enjoying meals outside and a separate relaxation area designed for switching off. The textiles and planting complete the scheme, turning it into a small retreat for enjoying good weather.
In the principal bedroom, the priority was to create an especially tranquil atmosphere. The wallpaper and textiles combine delicate blue and dusty pink tones, creating an enveloping, serene setting. The upholstered headboard, together with the oak bedside tables, brings warmth and functionality, with generous storage capacity. We also designed a fully bespoke dressing room with vanity area, tailored to the owners’ needs and routines to create a space that is comfortable, practical and perfectly organised.
The principal bathroom was designed as a space centred on everyday wellbeing. Beyond the selection of materials, every decision sought to create an enjoyable experience through the lighting, textures and combination of finishes. We designed a new oak vanity unit and a small cupboard above the niche to optimise storage. We also replaced all the brassware and designed new lighting that enhances the materials and creates a warm, enveloping glow. The bowl-shaped stone basin, brass wall lights and oak-framed mirror complete a composition that is elegant and timeless, where every detail contributes.
The result is a home that has left behind the uniformity typical of a new-build property to become a home full of personality. A light-filled, warm and functional space in which every room has been designed around the owners’ needs and where beauty comes above all from the balance between materials, light and a calm and considered way of living.
